First Rowlett UMC Youth Ministry

At First Rowlett United Methodist Church, we seek to create an environment where youth can grow in their faith and in community with one another and Christ. We are a space where youth come together and make their faith their own in a loving and grace filled environment.

Our Sunday morning program offers youth a life group to learn more about the Bible and how to recognize Christ working in their everyday lives for them starting at 10:00 am in The Lighthouse.

Our Sunday Nights offer different ways for the youth to serve musically as well as dinner and youth led worship

Youth Praise Band

Our praise band leads worship with today's best music. Guitars, keyboard, drums and vocalists are open to 7th-12 grade students. Practice is on Sundays at 3:30 - 5:00 pm in the Lighthouse.

Youth Choir

Youth Choir is for 6th-12th graders who are interested in singing, regardless of previous experience or school choir background. We sing at Sunday morning church services once per month, perform in the Dallas area for veterans and older adults, and plan for our annual summer tour. Past tours have taken us to Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.

Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings from 5:00 - 6:00 pm during the school year when there are other youth activities.

Confirmation

Youth students starting in sixth grade are welcome to participate in a traditional, year-long Confirmation program. It is a fun, interactive program where students learn the basics of the Christian faith as well as United Methodist history and tradition. They are taken to various churches on Sunday mornings so that they may experience different faith practices (i.e. Jewish, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and African American Methodist churches). Usually, this class is mostly sixth graders, but anyone is welcome to join. While in confirmation those students still participate in youth activities in the evenings. Confirmation is completed by Confirmation Sunday in May. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Travis: travis.burdett@firstrowlett.org
