First Rowlett UMC Youth Ministry

At First Rowlett United Methodist Church, we seek to create an environment where youth can grow in their faith and in community with one another and Christ. We are a space where youth come together and make their faith their own in a loving and grace filled environment.

Our Sunday morning program offers youth a life group to learn more about the Bible and God's plan for them starting at 10:20 am in The Lighthouse.

Our Sunday Nights offer different ways for the youth to serve musically as well as dinner and youth led worship

3pm- Youth Band

5pm- Youth Choir

6pm- Dinner @ FLC

6:30-8pm- Youth Gathering

Our Youth Praise team consists of youth from 8th grade to 12th grade who love Christ and love leading others in worship.

They rehearse in the Lighthouse.

Our Youth Choir meets as a group of 7th-12th graders in the Choir Room next to the sanctuary. There are no try-outs and you don't have to be musically inclined; just come, sing, enjoy the fellowship and worship God through music. They participate in worship throughout the year and every summer go on a Choir Tour, where they sing for different congregations, nursing homes, and more.

Small Groups

The heart of our youth ministry is in the smaller groups that meet on Sunday mornings and evenings.

At 10:20 am on Sunday mornings, all grades meet together in the Assembly area of the Lighthouse, then divide into Life Groups which are divided by age group.

On Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m.,  we divide into age groups for small group discussions.

Youth Praise Band

Our praise band leads worship with today's best music. Guitars, keyboard, drums and vocalists are open to 7th-12 grade students. Practice is on Sundays at 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the Lighthouse.

Youth Choir

Youth Choir is for 7th-12th graders who are interested in singing, regardless of previous experience or school choir background. We sing at Sunday morning church services once per month, perform in the Dallas area for veterans and older adults, and plan for our annual summer tour. Past tours have taken us to Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.

Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings from 5-6 p.m during the school year when there are other youth activities.

Sixth grade students participate in a traditional, year-long Confirmation program. This program takes place during Life Groups at 10:20 am on Sundays. It is a fun, interactive program where students learn the basics of Christian faith as well as United Methodist history and tradition. They are taken to various churches on Sunday mornings so that they may experience different faith practices (i.e. Jewish, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and African American Baptist churches). During Sunday evenings the Confirmands will be participating in mission projects around the church and community. The summer following their Confirmation will be the time in which they will join the youth program, engaging in all the summer activities we have to offer.

Sundays: 10:20 am and 6:30 p.m. in The Lighthouse
