Life Groups

8:30 a.m.

Agape: This class for early risers follows the Adult Bible Studies curriculum of the United Methodist Church. (60+; Room 140)

Disciples: Studies include traditional Bible curriculum along with contemporary Christian authors. Come and work together to develop an intimacy with God and caring relationships with each other. (55+; Room 172)

Friendship: Friendships and fellowship are enjoyed through occasional social events, as well as studying God’s Word to discover solutions for the tough issues facing families today. (50+; The Lighthouse, Room 302)

Saints & Sinners: This is the newest Life Group within First UMC, Rowlett. The members in this Life Group represents many ages and stages of life. The weekly sessions are Bible Based and currently the group is following the UMC Cokesbury Bible Study curriculum. (All ages, all stages; The Lighthouse, Room 300)

9:45 a.m.

F.A.I.T.H. Now: This group knows that walking with God means living his promises in everyday life. The curriculum will help you to make God a priority in your life, and to serve your church and community. You have a home in this class. (All Ages; Room 182)

Footprints: A class for women (married or single) who come to church without a spouse/partner. This class enjoys building relationships, Bible study that carries them into a deeper relationship with Christ, and are also engaged in service projects and missions together. (Women of all ages; Room 140A)

FoundationThe Foundation Life Group is comprised largely of people who have children from newborn to elementary school age children. They study a wide variety of topics including parenting, family life, marriage, and spiritual growth. The goal is to create a foundation for our children. The class holds social activities once each month. (Parents raising children; Room 174)

Genesis: This class is comprised of couples in their mid-30’s to mid-50’s. The open discussions center on around the Bible and how it relates to contemporary situations. Fellowship and humor are important, and the class has a tremendous support network for those in need. (Ages 35-55; The Lighthouse, Room 300)

New Beginnings: All adults are welcomed. In this class, they explore a variety of topics from contemporary as well as traditional studies. Materials are selected that lend themselves to group participation, lively discussion and a healthy compliment of humor. Frequent in-class and outside activities for fellowship and camaraderie is the norm. Please feel free to join the class any Sunday. (All ages; Room 178)

Nomads: These wanderers have found a home with one another sharing Bible-centered lessons and warm fellowship. (Ages 60+; Room 184)

The O.N.E. Class: A community with an interest in current events, building faith and learning more about the Bible through unconventional banter and discussion. Most members have elementary to high school aged children. They enjoy impromptu gatherings and spending time volunteering for the church together. (Early 30's - Early 50's; The Lighthouse, Room 302)

Theolog: A multi-generational group that emphasizes free and open discussions of any faith related topics, the class takes a thought provoking approach to Biblical studies. Theologs are also actively mission oriented, providing support for programs within our church, our community, and internationally.  The class provides supportive fellowship within the group to help and encourage each other’s faith journey. Our class does not begin until 10:00 am. Come and see. (all ages; Room 170)

Jahweh Rafah Sunday School: Spanish-speaking congregation of First Rowlett UMC. (All ages; Room 140B)

Companions of Christ: Small group focuses on growing our faith, building strong bonds, and offering mutual support and encouragement through in-depth Bible study. (Multi-age; Room 172)

11:00 a.m.

The Next Chapter: Comprised of active dynamic members approaching and early in the “empty nest” chapter of their lives. They are committed to a focused study of God’s word and how that applies to our daily life decisions. Focused on the enjoyment of special mission projects, frequent socials, the support of each other as they navigate into this Next Chapter with God’s guidance. God’s Word, Fun, Food and Fellowship is their focus. (Ages 40-55+; The Lighthouse, Room 302)
