Lay Pastors

Lay Pastors are people who have felt they have the passion and gifts for this ministry. Compassion is probably the most important 'gift' needed.

Candidates for Lay Pastor receive a six-week training course designed to teach and develop skills and gifts for Christian caregiving. Upon completion, the Lay Pastor is then commissioned to serve in this ministry with the blessing and support of the congregation.

A Lay Pastor can serve in a number of areas related to Pastoral Care including hospital visitation, nursing home visits, homebound visits, prayer concerns follow-up, and much more. Visitations are sometimes done by phone, other times by personal visits. Communion is taken on the first Sunday of the month to nursing homes and homebound members.

Prayer is an integral part of the life of a Christian. First Rowlett is a praying church. Prayer is a part of everything we do.

Prayer Requests -You may submit your prayer request by email to Vicki Gautreaux at The text of your email message is added to the requests that are lifted up to God by our Prayer Partners. These requests are not published unless we have your permission. As one church member said,"I know that my need for prayer can be met even if it is late at night."

Pray First-In order to add your name or a loved one's name to the weekly list of congregational joys and concerns which is published in the Pray First section of Sunday's bulletin, members may call or visit the church office. Requests can also be submitted by filling out a prayer card during church services and placing in the offering plate, by dropping your prayer concern in the prayer box located in the Narthex or email Vicki Gautreaux at

Email Prayer Partners -Do you feel the calling to become part of the email Prayer Partners of this church? All you need to do is email Vicki Gautreaux at and give her your name and email address. When a prayer request is received, each Prayer Partner is notified by email of the need and they pray for that need. It's simple & extremely important for our church family.
