Who: Mission Kids is for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
When: We meet each Sunday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 pm from September thru May.
Where: Room 140
What: We know the parable that Jesus told of the Good Samaritan who helped a stranger who was a Jew that had been robbed and beaten on the road to Damascus. We know that two other men who were also Jews saw the hurt man and did not stop to help because they either did not have the time or thought it was beneath them. But the Good Samaritan, who was supposed to be an enemy, stopped, bandaged the man, put him on his donkey and took him to a hotel. There the Samaritan paid the bill so the hurt man could stay until he was well enough to take care of himself. This is such an important story that there is a law called "The Good Samaritan" law.
As First Rowlett UMC Mission Kids, we are going to learn that we can help others in many different ways. We will learn that helping others does not have to be something big and that we don't need to tell everyone what we have done. We will help others as a group by doing our weekly projects, but we will also learn that one person, even a very small and young child, can help someone feel better by treating them kindly or by doing small things for them. If we do one small and kind thing a day to help someone, we are doing what Jesus taught us to do.
